Job Summary
Research Technician to support NIH-funded chromatin research in a budding yeast model at Wesleyan University. Responsibilities include executing standard molecular genetics techniques (PCR, DNA extractions, yeast and bacterial transformations, gel electrophoresis, western blots), maintaining a detailed lab notebook, managing lab inventory and ordering, supervising undergraduate work-study students, and performing other duties as assigned. This on-campus role offers opportunities to gain hands-on research experience, learn new methods, publish and present results, and contribute to a collaborative life-sciences community. Qualifications include a B.S./B.A. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry or related field, wet-lab molecular biology/genetics experience, strong organization and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, and a demonstrated commitment to working with diverse teams. Preferred qualifications include experience in bioinformatic analysis or biochemistry. Funding for 2 years; first review July 2, 2026; location: Middletown, CT (Main Campus), United States.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry or a relevant field or equivalent
- Experience conducting wet-bench research in molecular biology or molecular genetics
- Strong organization and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently
- Commitment to working within a diverse environment and ability to build effective collaborative relationships
- Demonstrated ability to supervise/coordinate undergraduate work-study
