Job Summary
Conduct laboratory experiments using established protocols, accurately record and analyze data, and maintain detailed research records. Support bench-based experiments, mammalian cell culture, and animal studies by conducting duties independently under general supervision and assisting investigators with advanced procedures. Identify and troubleshoot technical issues to ensure reproducible project completion, while developing and optimizing new laboratory protocols. Provide technical guidance and training to students and personnel on equipment operation and safety. Contribute to scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations, and maintain laboratory organization including inventory management and equipment storage. Assist with quality control, regulatory compliance, biosafety, and animal protocol requirements while maintaining research confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field
- one year of experience
- Advanced (beyond basic lab training)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
Desired Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, including maintenance of established celllines, in vitro drug treatment studies, and standard molecular biology techniques
- Experience with flow cytometry, including FACS-based flow cytometric analysis
- Experience working with laboratory mice in a research setting
- Proficiency in mouse colony management, including breeding, weaning, genotyping, identification, record keeping, and colony maintenance
- Experience with animal handling and in vivo procedures, including: Intravenous (IV) injections, Retro-orbital injection/transplantation, Intraperitoneal (IP) injections, Oral gavage, Blood collection, blood cell isolation, and related sample processing techniques, Tissue harvesting, cell isolation, and single-cell suspension preparation from bonemarrow, spleen, and solid tissues, Monitoring animal health and welfare in accordance with institutional and regulatory guidelines
- Experience with mouse disease models, drug administration studies, or other preclinical research
- Familiarity with laboratory compliance requirements, animal care regulations, and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) procedures
