Job Summary
Lead daily breeding and trial operations as the operational lead for breeding and trial activities in a greenhouse setting, implementing projects and protocols defined by the Supervisor. Act as the primary point of contact for day-to-day greenhouse operations, guiding technicians, coordinating pollination, seed harvesting, sowing, transplanting, and trial setup; organize and prioritize tasks based on trial schedules and program needs. Provide technical guidance, monitor task completion, and communicate progress or delays to the Research Supervisor. Ensure correct trial setup with proper labeling and documentation, proactively scout crops for pests/diseases, maintain compliance with HSES, phytosanitary requirements, and SOPs, and utilize information systems (e.g., Kikker) for data records. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and safety in breeding operations and support process improvements as priorities evolve.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- B.S. degree preferred
- At least 3 years of relevant growing, breeding, trialing, or agriculture work experience
- Experience supervising a team
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal)
- Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint
- Highly organized, structured, and detail-oriented
- Authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship (no OPT/CPT/H-1B)
