Job Summary

Research Technician IV at the Lessard Lab performing advanced cell and molecular biology techniques, including in vitro mammalian cell culture (including hiPSCs), CRISPR genome editing, flow cytometry, and single-cell sequencing/spatial transcriptomics (e.g., 10X Genomics platforms). Experience with bacterial cloning, plasmid isolation, transfection and/or viral transduction in mammalian cells, and next-generation sequencing library preparation is required. Responsibilities include developing/modifying lab protocols, designing and executing a limited set of complex experiments, data analysis and presentation to the PI, maintaining organized lab notebooks, delivering routine reports, and acting as a technical resource. The role emphasizes leadership and training of others, collaboration with vendors and staff, equipment operation, and ensuring safe, compliant lab operations. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s in biological sciences, physics, chemistry or related area plus eight years of relevant lab experience; strong multitasking, independence, and teamwork skills; demonstrated scientific expertise and initiative in method development. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree and eight to ten years of hands-on experience with 10X Genomics single-cell technologies and various NGS workflows, as well as experience with hiPSCs, CRISPR, flow cytometry, cloning, and human tissue handling. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, with potential overtime; relocation assistance is available for those outside a 50-mile radius of Oklahoma City.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, physics, chemistry or related area, or equivalent years of relevant lab experience
  • minimum of eight (8) years of relevant lab experience
  • Highly skilled in multi-tasking, thinking, working independently, and functioning effectively as a team member
  • Demonstrates a high level of expertise in a specific scientific field
  • Capable of handling bigger projects and assuming greater responsibility
  • Master�s degree in biological sciences or related sciences (preferred)
  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of hands-on experience using 10X Genomics Single Cell Technologies and other high-throughput sequencing approaches
  • Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing library preparation for Illumina platforms
  • Experience culturing and differentiating human induced pluripotent stem cells, performing CRISPR Cas9-targeted editing, flow cytometry, molecular cloning, and working with human tissues
