Job Summary
Conduct biochemical and molecular biological experiments under the direction of the Principal Investigator and manage laboratory maintenance duties, splitting time between cutting-edge cancer metabolism research and lab operations. Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, participate in research meetings to present findings, assist in proofreading and editing for publications, and manage research databases and supply logistics. Operate analytical instruments, perform calculations, and prepare charts, graphs, and summaries for data verification. This role supports the Sullivan Laboratory's study of cancer cell metabolism, tumor growth targets, and stress survival mechanisms through collaborative work with other laboratory personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study
- Demonstrated basic laboratory skills
- 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework
Desired Qualifications
- Independent research experience in addition to school lab experience
- Experience with cell culturing, imaging, mass spectrometry, other molecular biology/biochemistry techniques, and/or computational skills
- A passion for scientific discovery
