Research & Technical Communications Manager

Lead technical launches and announcements for Canva’s research, engineering milestones, developer programs, and ecosystem initiatives, owning narratives, media strategy, and cross-functional rollout for external audiences. Build influence across the AI ecosystem by cultivating relationships with technology journalists, research-focused publications, AI influencers, and industry voices. Develop thought leadership platforms for Canva’s engineering, AI, and research leaders through media engagement, speaking opportunities, and industry opportunities. Drive research and technical storytelling by translating complex innovations into compelling narratives that elevate Canva’s profile across media, industry, and developer communities. Lead internal communications for the engineering organization, partnering with leaders to keep teams informed, connected, and inspired as Canva scales. Must have extensive experience translating advanced technical concepts into engaging storytelling for both specialist and mainstream audiences, deep understanding of AI/engineering/developer landscapes, and proven ability to work with senior leaders on media engagements, executive communications, and reactive statements.
