Job Summary

Research Assistant in the Clinical Addictions Research Laboratory (CARL) at the University of Chicago. The role involves leading recruitment, conducting screening interviews and study orientation, and collecting data during study visits and follow-ups for studies on alcohol, tobacco, and other substances; supporting ongoing smoking cessation research; performing data management, literature reviews, equipment calibration, and administrative tasks; assisting with data analysis and preparation of tables, graphs, and manuscripts; ensuring compliance with IRB, FDA CFR, and ICH guidelines; conducting clinical interviews as needed and coordinating scheduling and disbursement processes. Key skills include digital literacy, proficiency with MS Excel and REDCap, experience with R/Python/SPSS/STATA, strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple study-related activities in an academic medical center setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).
  • Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
