Job Summary
Perform laboratory experiments, qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses and data collection in a clean-lab setting within NASA JSC/Ares-related research. Contribute to development/optimization of ion chromatography methods, assist with sample preparation and analyses of organic compounds and trace elements, summarize procedures and results, participate in safety programs, and collaborate with internal and visiting researchers while helping maintain laboratory operations.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in a relevant technical discipline
- Minimum 2 years' experience in general chemistry techniques including analytical, wet-bench, and/or organic
- Hands-on experience conducting experiments and summarizing results
- Experience in a clean laboratory environment with contamination-control procedures
- Knowledge of chemical safety, waste disposal, and proper handling practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to learn new laboratory procedures, techniques, and instrumentation in a dynamic research environment
