Job Summary
Research Strategist role for Avant (Sydney, Australia) on a 4-month contract, part-time (3 days/week) with a Hybrid work model (50% in-office). Lead the design of Avant’s thought leadership and insight development across safety, quality, sustainability, professionalism, and equity in healthcare. Define a 3–5 year research plan, manage a ~ $500k annual commissioned-research budget, and translate complex research into actionable advocacy and education outcomes for members. Collaborate across Advocacy and Education, Public Affairs, Government Relations, Sustainability, and Avant Foundation to shape strategy, identify external research partners, and design multi-year budget scenarios. Essential qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree, 10+ years of managing internal/external research specialists, budgeting commissioning of medium-sized research programs, and strong stakeholder management plus excellent communication. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- 10+ years’ experience managing internal and external research specialists
- Experience budgeting and commissioning medium-sized research programs ($25k–$250k)
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute an enterprise research strategy via commissioned projects
- Strong stakeholder management skills across a complex, matrixed environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including translating research for non-academic audiences
