Job Summary

Interpret official documents related to property ownership and exemptions, then process all types of exemption applications accurately and efficiently. Assist property owners with questions regarding ownership and exemption issues while maintaining organized records and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Provide excellent customer service through clear communication and professional interaction, collaborating with team members to ensure smooth workflow and data accuracy. Stay informed about updates to policies and procedures related to property exemptions. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Applicants must pass a standardized skill test and may need a Texas Driver's License if assigned to deliver mail.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Software
  • The ability to concentrate on assigned tasks and to manage time effectively
  • The ability to ask questions that will bring forth the information needed to assist the customer efficiently
  • The ability to communicate clearly on the telephone and face to face
  • Additionally strong written communication skills
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time with ability to reach, bend and move up/down
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds of files or equipment
  • Applicant must be able to pass a standardized skill test administered by the District
  • If assigned to deliver and retrieve mail to and from the Post Office, must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and comply with the DCAD automobile insurance requirements

  • Ability to interpret legal and official documents accurately

  • Self-motivated with a quick learning ability
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and data entry
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
  • Experience with U.S. Mail, UPS, Express Mail Carriers and procedures is beneficial
  • Bilingual in Spanish - (read and speak)
  • Office experience with knowledge of office equipment, postage meters, and other office equipment
  • Previous customer service, appraisal or tax office experience
