Job Summary

The Research Specialist will perform and supervise comprehensive clinical assessments for research studies on schizophrenia and psychosis risk, focusing on youth at clinical high risk for psychosis. Key responsibilities include conducting diagnostic interviews, collaborating with the project coordinator and principal investigator, writing summary vignettes, and possibly supervising psychology trainees. Essential qualifications include a master's or doctoral degree in psychology, experience with psychiatric diagnostic interviews, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Possession of a master's or doctoral level degree in psychology or related field
  • Experience with administering psychiatric diagnostic interviews (e.g., Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5, Structured Interview for Psychosis-Risk Syndromes, SIPS)
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work well with others including the principal investigator and other research colleagues, study staff, medical students, residents and post-doctoral fellows.

Desired Qualifications

  • Prefer ability to work evening and/or weekend schedules when necessary due to participant availability
  • Prefer prior experience conducting research with patients and collaborating with health service providers
  • Prefer prior experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals with mental health problems, particularly serious mental health conditions such as psychosis.

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates must complete SFVA onboarding process which includes a federal background check, occupational health clearance, vaccines and immunizations, and drug testing.
  • Drug testing may include screening for marijuana which remains an illegal substance according to federal law.
  • The failure to pass required drug testing will disqualify candidates from employment.
