Job Summary
Research Scientist or Senior Research Scientist role focusing on developing innovative casthouse alloys and technologies for hydro aluminium products. Collaborate with plants and customers on joint development projects, manage research programs, test new alloys, and engage in partnerships with universities, institutes, and industrial partners. Contribute to green aluminium initiatives (e.g., Hydro CIRCAL, Hydro REDUXA) and participate in Hydro’s Graduate Program for recent graduates. Requires a Master’s degree or PhD in Metallurgy, Material Science, Nanotechnology, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related fields; experience with project management and industrial/product development; English fluency; willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Some travel is expected; HSE is emphasized as a core value. CV, cover letter, and transcripts requested. Location: Sunndalsøra, Norway; interface with global R&D activities and external collaborations.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Metallurgy, Material Science, Nanotechnology, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or similar fields.
- Open to both experienced candidates and recent/soon to be graduates.
- Experience with project management, industrial processes or product development.
- Experience with aluminium is an advantage.
- Fluency in English.
- Some domestic and international travel should be expected.
