Job Summary
Research Scientist in Pharmacology to assist the Principal Investigator in managing and performing research projects focused on microscopy technology development and the study of heart structure and function. Responsibilities include tissue harvesting, microdissection, reagent preparation, tissue cryosectioning, and preparing samples for optical microscopy including super-resolution modalities; optical microscopy imaging of biological samples using confocal microscopy, fluorescence lifetime imaging, single molecule localization imaging, and STED; design, construction, and use of custom microscopy setups for high-throughput, high-resolution imaging in collaboration with lab researchers; training of lab members in optical physics concepts and microscopy methods; maintenance of cell lines and primary cell cultures; basic molecular biology experiments including Western blots and PCR; maintenance and ordering of reagents/equipment and simple maintenance of experimental equipment; and compilation/organization of data for manuscripts and grant proposals. Required qualification is a Bachelor's degree in science or related disciplines; compensation is determined by the university salary schedule for an Academic Faculty (12-month contract).
