Job Summary
The Research Scientist III will design and implement significant health services and epidemiology-related research projects focusing on infectious diseases. Responsibilities include securing external funding, collaborating with external partners, developing research portfolios, mentoring staff and interns, and contributing to the scientific community as a peer reviewer. Required qualifications include a PhD or MD/DO with advanced research training, eleven years of post-doctoral experience in the relevant fields, and a strong record of publications and grant funding. Candidates are expected to have extensive experience in infectious disease research, ideally with a focus on HIV or other communicable diseases.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Health Services Research, or related discipline OR an MD/DO with an additional advanced research degree (e.g., MPH, MAS, MS, PhD)
- Minimum of eleven (11) years of post-doctoral research experience in epidemiology, health services research, or related field
Desired Qualifications
- Extensive experience in infectious disease research
- Experience in a health system research setting
- Successful track record of extramural grant funding as Principal Investigator
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
- Demonstrated ability to design and lead simultaneous original research studies, including multi-site studies
Additional Requirements
- Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment.
- Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment.
- Must be able to go into the regional office located in Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. at least quarterly, and on an as-needed basis.
- Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C., Maryland, or Virginia area.
