Job Summary
Implement an independent research program with national impact by working directly in the laboratory, collecting data, developing new procedures, and recruiting staff to facilitate progress. Obtain external funding from agencies like NIH, prepare grant proposals, and publish results in refereed journals while presenting at national meetings. Supervise graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, coordinate training programs, and collaborate with faculty on mutual research problems and national committee service. Maintain appropriate research facilities and contribute to the national research effort through manuscript reviews and meeting organization.
Required Qualifications
- Education and experience equivalent to that of a faculty member at a research university, including a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in neuroscience, psychology, engineering or a related discipline
- Work in one or more major laboratories where research was performed relevant to the current research program
- Demonstrated the potential for success in development of a research program with national impact, as indicated by a significant record of publication in refereed journals and presentations at national meetings
- Recognition in the form of invited presentations and publications, and other honors and awards
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of transfer or hire
- Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification within 30 days of transfer or hire
