Job Summary
Research Scientist responsible for directing the research and administrative activities of a Brown University Health laboratory focused on stress, trauma, and resilience. Prepares, writes and presents papers and grants as principal investigator on research projects; identifies and coordinates internal and external funding opportunities; develops research methodology; ensures accurate data collection and analysis; interprets data with statistical methods; ensures policy and procedural compliance (IRB and IACUC); supervises postdoctoral fellows, research assistants, and other lab personnel including hiring, training, assigning work, providing feedback, evaluating performance, and disciplining when necessary; participates in budget development and hospital/department committees; engages with internal and external stakeholders to provide professional consultation in the field. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. or M.D., supervisory/administrative skills, one year of research experience, and strong communication abilities. Operates in a university health system setting with potential for grant-funded responsibilities and collaboration across related centers (e.g., COBRE STAR, Center for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine). Location: Providence, RI; full-time, day shift. The role emphasizes leadership within a research team, advancement of scientific knowledge on stress/trauma/resilience, grant writing, and adherence to institutional policies.
