Job Summary
Coordinate research proposals and reporting for Maryland Sea Grant, supporting grants management, proposal development, and program reporting across the portfolio; assist in organizing research workshops, strategic planning, and program reporting efforts; report to the senior program manager and assist the Director of Maryland Sea Grant with the research portfolio. This one-year exempt contractual position emphasizes rigorous, process-driven work, with strong writing, research, and communication skills, and requires familiarity with MS Office, AI tools, and database management. The role expects in-person work in College Park, MD, with the ability to work virtually as needed, and involves collaboration with researchers and administrators across multiple focus areas including Healthy Coastal Ecosystems, Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture, Resilient Communities and Economies, and Environmental Literacy and Workforce Development.
Required Qualifications
- PhD is required; preferably in marine or coastal science
- strong writing, research and communication skills
- strong working knowledge of MS Office, AI tools, and database management software
- attention to detail and a solid understanding and experience with program management
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with teams of researchers and administrators
- interest or experience in developing and monitoring grant budgets
- familiarity with federal grants rules and regulations
- experience with proposals development, grants management, or research coordination preferred
