Job Summary
Develop new ideas, identify and clean data sources, and prepare analyses for publication in health economics research. Write programs in Stata, R, and Python to analyze large datasets, construct maps and figures, and run simulations. Identify new data sources and handle editing tasks while managing multiple projects independently. Work directly with BFI Health Initiative Faculty as part of the Predoctoral Research in Economics Program. Bachelor's degree required with summer 2027 start date; salary $59,000–62,000 plus $2,000 development fund.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in economics, computer science, science, engineering, or related STEM fields from an accredited university
- Relevant research experience as a research assistant
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong academic writing/communication skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced familiarity with programming
- Ability to manage and analyze large datasets
- Familiarity with at least one scripting language
- Knowledge of R, Python, Stata
- Master's degree in economics, public policy, or a related field
- Previous research assistance experience contributing meaningfully to faculty research
- Advanced knowledge of research techniques and methods in relevant scientific field
- Understanding of academia and higher education in a research and teaching environment
