Job Summary
Develop and maintain the group's funding strategy by monitoring the landscape and identifying matched calls for EU and international funders. Lead proposal development end to end, including structuring narratives, drafting text, and coordinating submissions, budgets, and deadlines. Manage awarded grants, milestones, deliverables, and scientific and financial reporting while supporting day-to-day group coordination. Maintain the group's web presence and organize scientific workshops and events.
Required Qualifications
- A track record of writing successful research grant proposals
- Outstanding written English
- The ability to turn complex technical ideas into clear, persuasive narratives
- A good understanding of the European research funding landscape (e.g. Horizon Europe, ERC)
- Strong organisational and project-management skills
- A collaborative, proactive working style
- Contract length: 3 years renewable to 9 years
- Starting date: Flexible, preferably as soon as possible
- Salary: Grade 5 (monthly salary starting at €3.082,55 after tax and before 12,99% EMBL social security deductions)
- Other paid benefits based on personal circumstances
Desired Qualifications
- A PhD in computer science, the life sciences, or a related field (not a requirement)
- Familiarity with AI/machine learning or computational biology research
- Experience organising scientific events and workshops
- Knowledge of Italian
