Job Summary
Operate facility overhead cranes, man-lifts, and forklifts while providing rigging for lifting equipment and material. Weld horizontally, overhead, and vertically using oxy-acetylene, AC-DC electric arc, M.I.G., and T.I.G. methods on various materials including stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and copper. Operate machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses, and lay out complex tubing systems using flaring machines and tubing benders. Disassemble, repair, and verify valves and pressure regulators, ensuring hardware compatibility with flow media properties. Maintain hydraulic systems, high-pressure gas systems, and cryogenic systems including liquid hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and helium. Fabricate, install, and operate mechanical control test panels and special test equipment while performing general maintenance on vacuum pumping and heat exchanger systems.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years working experience as a Journeyman Level Mechanic such as a Maintenance Mechanic or Machine Repair Technician
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from engineering or supervision
- Ability to use own judgment and decisions to allow continuity of workflow
- Must be able to organize time and assignments to properly prioritize efforts for maximum effectiveness
- Must be self-motivated and a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a 4-year State approved apprenticeship program with a Journeyman's certificate
- Equivalent vocational school training with sufficient combined work experience and skills
