Job Summary

Conduct wet lab experiments involving live mice, including setting up crosses, collecting tissue biopsies, and performing in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry. Prepare buffers, reagents, and solutions for molecular biology while handling samples, reagents, and solutions with adherence to safety guidelines. Operate laboratory equipment for gel electrophoresis, image acquisition via epifluorescence and confocal microscopy, and routine calibration. Record and analyze experimental data using statistical methods and scientific software tools, contributing to research findings and reports. Assist in general laboratory maintenance and organize reagents and supplies. Work onsite in a neuroscience laboratory studying developmental mechanisms in the mouse auditory system, utilizing approaches such as single-cell genomics and machine learning.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study
  • Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment
  • 1-2 years preferred
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges
  • Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, genetics, biology or a related discipline
  • At least six months of experience in a wet lab environment
  • Comfort with handling live mice and performing procedures on anesthetized or euthanized mice
