Job Summary
Conduct routine and non-routine experiments including western blots, immunoprecipitation, protein purification, and mass spectrometry sample preparation under supervision. Process platelets and plasma samples from donors and patients while maintaining long-term tissue cultures of human cell lines. Maintain detailed electronic laboratory notebooks, manage reagents and chemical inventory, and perform routine equipment calibration. Analyze data using Excel, FlowJo, and GraphPad Prism, then present findings in lab meetings and assist with publication preparation. This role offers direct mentorship from the principal investigator and shadowing opportunities for clinical interest.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in biology, chemistry or a related science field
- 0-1 yrs of experience
- Previous experience (6 months+) with techniques in experimental biology, chemistry and/or biochemistry
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn
- Comfortable with working independently and in a team
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to learn and perform a variety of laboratory protocols, to identify potential problems and troubleshoot solutions
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to logically present data
- Sound judgment regarding time-management and laboratory safety
Desired Qualifications
- Prior training in western blot
- Prior training in immunoprecipitation
- Prior training in protein purification by liquid chromatography
- Prior training in flow cytometry
- Prior training in preparation of samples for mass spectrometry analysis
- Proficiency in Excel
- Proficiency in FlowJo
- Proficiency in GraphPad Prism
