Job Summary
Research Intern position within DeNova's WiSTEM Internship Program. You will support daily R&D operations and fermentation/bioprocessing research, assist with basic microbiology and aseptic techniques, and contribute to an independent research project aligned with DeNova’s priorities. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing experimental data, presenting findings in written and oral formats, collaborating with scientists and engineers, and receiving mentorship from the Founder and CEO. The role offers practical experience in industrial fermentation and biomanufacturing in a hands-on, lab-based environment in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. Eligible candidates are students who are pursuing or have completed at least a year of post-secondary education in science/engineering and who identify as women.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of post-secondary education in science, engineering, or a related field
- enthusiasm for sustainable innovation and keen interest in biotechnology, fermentation, or industrial biomanufacturing
- hands-on experience in an academic or industry lab setting
- strong communication, organization, and time management skills
- curious, collaborative, and solution-oriented
- comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-based environment
- professional, respectful work approach with a strong commitment to safety
