Job Summary
Research Intern at Smithfield Foods: paid 10-week internship in a swine facility with supervision from department leaders. Core duties include training in processes, understanding interrelations to company production, environmental compliance reporting, and reviewing emergency notification procedures. Emphasis on teamwork, initiative, and learning across locations and functions. Requires ability to walk/stand long hours, lift up to 50 lbs, and work weekends/holidays in a fast-paced environment; starting pay is $16/hour. Must be working toward a degree or recent graduate; agriculture majors preferred; strong communication and organizational skills, plus proactive, team-oriented mindset. Relocation not required. Required Qualifications
- Must be working toward a degree from a regionally accredited college or university or a recent graduate
- Agriculture related majors preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to learn and work in a team environment

- Strong time, project, and organizational management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as with others in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships
