Job Summary
Lead and contribute to cutting-edge human–robot interaction research within the School of Computing and Information Systems. Responsibilities include conducting independent HRI research, publishing in top venues, developing and managing research plans, contributing to teaching, supervision, and mentoring, and collaborating with internal and external partners to advance the School’s HRI/AI research profile. Applicants should hold a PhD in a closely related field, demonstrate a strong publication record, and be able to work independently while contributing to an interdisciplinary team. The role supports flexible work arrangements and is based in Parkville, Australia, with visa sponsorship available.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Human–Robot Interaction, Human-AI Interaction or closely related discipline
- Strong publication record in HRI/robotics/HCI conferences and journals
- Ability to conduct independent, innovative research and collaborate across disciplines
- Experience in teaching, supervision, and mentoring of students
- Excellent communication skills and ability to disseminate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to manage research plans, timelines, and documentation
- Experience with experimental design, data collection/analysis, and reproducible research practices
- Demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and partnerships
- Commitment to inclusion, mentorship, and academic leadership
