Job Summary
In this Research Engineer role focused on search and information retrieval systems, you will build and operate massive-scale search indexes, manage the indexing infrastructure for billions of documents, and ensure content relevance and retrieval efficiency. Responsibilities include full ownership of the search pipeline, addressing challenges like query understanding, incremental indexing, and freshness, as well as running experiments to enhance performance. Ideal candidates will possess substantial experience in developing search infrastructure, ranking systems, and operational complexities, the ability to work autonomously, and a proven track record in production deployments.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years building search/IR systems at scale
- Hands-on with ranking, relevance, and query understanding
- Experience owning the full stack from ingestion to serving
- Knowledge of freshness, deduplication, and incremental indexing
- Ability to self-direct experiments and ship results to production
