Job Summary
As a Research Engineer focused on reinforcement learning (RL), you will develop training infrastructure, design reward pipelines, and fine-tune models to enhance Firecrawl's core offerings. The role includes building and owning training loops, iterating quickly on experiments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to connect RL enhancements with product strategies. A strong background in both classical RL and modern LLM techniques is essential, as is the ability to communicate results clearly to diverse teams. You will ensure that models are effectively deployed in production environments, directly impacting the utility and performance of the company's offerings.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of applied RL, ML engineering, or model training experience
- Experience fine-tuning models to achieve state-of-the-art results
- Experience operating GPU clusters and managing training runs
- Background in bridging classical RL and LLM approaches
- Production-minded with experience deploying models that serve real traffic
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with training infrastructure and reward modeling
- Fluency in reinforcement learning and LLM techniques
- Ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in applied RL, ML engineering, or model training with production systems
- Strong experimentation skills with rapid iteration
