Job Summary
Research & Development Ink Chemist at HP focused on developing ink formulations for imaging and printing. Collaborate with printer component designers to balance tradeoffs, characterize print attributes and durability, optimize inks for drop formation and printing processes, and lead cross-functional global teams. Emphasis on component development, formulation design (performance, manufacturing, and regulatory guidelines), print system characterization, and external supplier co-development. Located primarily in Corvallis, Oregon with remote collaboration as needed; requires a PhD in chemistry/chemical engineering or related field, strong analytical skills, and ability to work across disciplines in a fast-paced product-development environment. Fluency in English and demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities are essential. Required Qualifications
- PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field
- Understanding of fundamental chemical mechanisms
- Key areas include: Pigment and dye chemistry; Polymers in solution; Organic and inorganic nanoparticle suspensions; Interfacial and surface chemistry
- Proficiency in appropriate analytical instruments and the data interpretation
- Wet chemistry or ink formulation experience
- Strong written and spoken communication skills
- Ability to creatively solve problems in a fast-paced product development environment
- Ability to work and effectively interact remotely, as needed with team members from other disciplines, projects, organizations, cultures, and companies
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork/interpersonal, communication and technical skills
- Resourceful, creative, and flexible
- Fluency in English
- Desired qualifications: Programming skills
- Familiarity with printing technology and color science
- Formulation experience is a plus
