Research Chemist I

Research Chemist I works collaboratively and independently within the consumable products group to provide technical support for commercial consumable products (friction modifiers, greases, lubricants, and solid sticks) and engages in R&D activities including formulation, sample requests, analytical testing, performance testing, scale-up manufacturing testing, data analysis, record-keeping, and communication of results. Responsibilities include lab organization, safety, and supervision of COOP students or laboratory technicians; training on health and safety, SOPs, and product chemistry; manufacturing quality control and audits with toll manufacturers; design and implement changes in laboratory or manufacturing processes to improve safety, costs, and efficiency; support 5S/EHS and calibration of lab instrumentation; and continuous improvement activities. Ability to travel to other sites, manufacturers, and field trials. Requires a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemistry or related physical sciences and 1-2 years of COOP or equivalent experience; strong planning, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; proficient MS Office.
