Job Summary
Research Chemist I will work with the R&D team to evaluate existing and new chemistries and processes related to Indorama products. The role is laboratory-focused, performing directed experiments with glassware reactors and Parr reactors, and conducting application-specific testing for agricultural, oilfield, paints/coatings, and personal care areas. Responsibilities include reviewing literature to stay current, completing projects in the US project pipeline, setting up and executing laboratory work as outlined by R&D scientists, analyzing samples by analytical methods, maintaining thorough lab notebooks, supporting patent-related documentation, keeping the lab organized, adhering to safety and training requirements, assisting the R&D Lab Manager with resources, and ensuring documentation is updated for consulting. Ideal candidates will have relevant chemistry or related science degrees and practical R&D laboratory experience, with competencies in chromatography, spectroscopy, wet analysis, and formulation in applicable markets. The role supports Indorama’s global operations across multiple markets and emphasizes quality, legality, and food safety considerations where applicable.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biochemistry, or Polymer Chemistry/Engineering required
- BS in other science field plus 2+ years in Research laboratory work
- Associates Degree with 5+ years in Research laboratory work
- 0-3 years’ experience (more 3 years’ experience preferred) in: R&D laboratory preferred
