Job Summary
Research Associate role at Texas A&M University–Kingsville (Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute). Performs independent or supervisory research activities in science and outreach, including designing and conducting fieldwork, operating field equipment, data management/analysis, statistical evaluations, preparing proposals for funding agencies, and developing outreach materials. Collaborates with graduate students and local landowners to maximize research partnerships; prepares scientific publications and client-oriented reports; monitors financial accounts for research projects. Requires a Bachelor's degree in an applicable field and two years of related experience, familiarity with field/technical equipment (notably camera traps), strong data-management and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team. The role will be based remotely in Leakey, TX and primarily out of a field office, with duties spanning field operations, grant development, outreach, and stakeholder engagement. Start anticipated around July 1, 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years of related experience
- Familiarity with field and technical equipment, specifically camera traps
- Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks
- Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others
- This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends
- This position is security sensitive
- This position requires export-control authorization prior to starting employment
