Job Summary
Collect research data through literature reviews, independent investigation reports, and public online carer materials and networks. Code and conduct secondary analysis of qualitative data while training and supporting the carer co-researcher team alongside the study lead. Contribute to writing for publication and planning dissemination activities such as seminar presentations. Carry out administrative tasks directly related to research delivery and promote equality and diversity as a role model. Work 15 hours weekly for nine months with flexibility to work remotely or at the University of Birmingham campus.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent in relevant subject area
- Practical experience of collecting and analysing qualitative data
- Experience of participatory or collaborative research
- Experience of community engagement or advocacy-related work
- Good inter-personal skills with an ability to work collaboratively, and help others
- Knowledge of the protected characteristics and duties of the Equality Act 2010
- Commitment to ensure the implementation of the Equality Act 2010
- Commitment to advancing the university Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED)
- Ability to carry out some project-based work in Birmingham

- Experience of applied social and/or health research
- Specialist interests around social work, social care and mental health research
- Experience of supporting or caring for family members
- Experience of people with mental health needs
- Practice experience
- Experience of writing for research publication
- Experience of presenting work (e.g. in meetings, seminars, conferences, via alternative outputs)
