Job Summary

Lead an independent research program in small ruminant molecular reproduction, including study design, experimental oversight, and strategic direction; oversee laboratory operations and supervise staff and students; develop competitive grant proposals and pursue external funding; establish buck testing and reproductive evaluation protocols at the International Goat Research Center; support undergraduate/graduate teaching, extension outreach, and producer education; contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations; author manuscripts and present at meetings; ensure compliance with university policies and training; drive integration of research outcomes into practice through extension activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Veterinary Medical Sciences, Molecular Genetics, Reproductive Physiology, Animal Science, or a related field
  • Seven (7) years of related experience
  • In-depth knowledge of research in practical and/or basic Agbiosciences
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and nonverbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong self-motivation to pursue research and link the research with teaching/extension missions
  • Development of high-caliber research manuscripts and grant proposals
  • Laboratory and technical equipment related to molecular, cell, and developmental biology, genomics, and physiology
  • Advanced microscopy and computer-assisted sperm analyzer (CASA) system
  • Experience with IVF procedures, Immunocytochemistry and basic molecular biology techniques
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Systems biology includes computational/synthetic biology, functional genomics, advanced microscopy, flow cytometry, and sperm cryopreservation
  • Animal handling, blood collection from sheep and goats, ELISA, pregnancy diagnosis by rectal palpation and ultrasonography, reproductive management (estrous synchronization), and artificial insemination in small ruminants
