Job Summary
Research Associate II to support silicosis surveillance and public health data initiatives: processing data from multiple electronic sources, documenting silicosis cases, conducting telephone interviews, abstracting medical records, entering standardized data, performing quality control, and preparing data for presentations (graphs/tables). Role involves collaboration with the OHB/OHTU team, contributing to inventory efforts for countertop fabrication operations statewide, and other duties as assigned. Remote/hybrid work with in-person activity in CDPH Richmond, CA; occasional travel up to 5% may be required. Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related experience; strong data management, Excel/Access skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and in a team. Able to operate Windows/Microsoft Office and to engage in public health data activities and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Two years of related experience
- Skills in medical chart abstraction
- Competence with Windows operating system and Microsoft Office applications (including Access)
- Knowledge of data systems such as MS Access (plus)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail
- Experience in research or public health (a plus)
- Familiarity with occupational health (a plus)
