Job Summary
Design of experiments, execution and optimization of protocols with a focus on strain characterization for achieving targeted metrics; implement molecular biology workflows for plasmids, strains, and enzymes; develop high-throughput microbial culture workflows; assist with in vitro/in vivo enzymatic assays; interface with data management system; collaborate with Molecular Biology, Fermentation, and Analytics teams; manage Strain Development Group operations including materials, reagents, and inventories. Relocation assistance may be agreed upon. Full-time role based in San Leandro, CA.
Required Qualifications
- MS or BS in Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or a related discipline
- 1-5 years of relevant lab/industrial/start-up experience preferred
- Hands-on experience with synthetic biology and strain engineering techniques such as PCR, Gibson Assembly, restriction digestion, ligation, and homologous recombination
- Experience with protein expression, purification, and enzymatic assays
- Rigorous attention to detail in experimental design, execution, and data recording
