Job Summary

Conduct safe aseptic field techniques and assist in monitoring subject flow during research patient visits. Collect and record necessary data for follow-up, including adverse events and concomitant medications, while ensuring treatment rooms are fully stocked with ancillary supplies. Explain treatment processes to subjects, set up and prepare them for administration of treatment per protocol, and perform intraocular pressure checks and post-treatment procedures. Assist in collection of aqueous humor samples, monitor on-site temperature, and perform daily calibration of tonopens. Promptly report treatment-related adverse events and medication errors to appropriate unmasked RAs. Ensure all instruments are accounted for and properly sterilized. This role supports the Research Department at The Woodlands location with a 6:30am-5pm Monday through Friday schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular medications
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills to independently manage workflow

  • Demonstrates high-level critical thinking skills
  • Cooperates with supervisory staff, physicians, peers external customers, and patients in a positive, energetic, and professional manner

  • Abounds in organizational and time-management skills, to include multi-tasking
  • High School diploma or the equivalent required, with 3 years ophthalmology experience
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to write
  • Must be able to hold arms at shoulder height
  • Must be able to communicate via telephone
  • Must have manual dexterity to work with ophthalmic equipment
