Job Summary
Conduct rearing activities and genetic crosses with arthropods in a contained laboratory environment while assisting with genetic, proteomic, transcriptomic, imaging, biochemical, and physiological experiments to elucidate factors critical for insect traits. Collect data, maintain detailed records of results, and utilize computer programs and databases to conduct analyses. Prepare media, insect diet, and rearing containers, and clean or wash lab materials and insect cages as needed. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Entomology, or a closely related field, plus research experience in molecular biology techniques and knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Entomology or closely related field
- Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment
- Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position
- Research experience/training in molecular biology techniques
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred experience in insect physiology/biochemistry/genetics
