Job Summary
Research Assistant will manage pecan orchard operations, operating farm equipment to maintain orchard floors and assist in nut harvest, support irrigation infrastructure, apply pesticides/fertilizers per an IPM plan, perform field ratings of pest presence and pecan phenology, maintain machinery, and perform other duties as assigned. Required skills include experience with farm equipment, pesticide/herbicide/fertilizer applications, ability to write reports, and capacity to work independently under hot conditions; driving license and ability to lift over 50 lbs are noted. The role is located in Brownwood, TX, with additional duties in College Station, TX; the position is not Visa-sponsored and is a temporary funding ending Aug 31, 2027.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Soil & Crop Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or related field
