Research Assistant - Spinal Cord Injury

Job Summary
Contribute to research operations and community engagement within the Restorative Neurotrauma Lab by applying lived experience of spinal cord injury to inform study design, recruitment, and participant-facing materials. Review consent forms, surveys, and protocols for community appropriateness, while providing candid feedback and participating in lab discussions as a full collaborator. Support participant recruitment through personal networks, build relationships with SCI-focused organizations, and assist with data collection, analysis, and entry. Draft and review outward-facing content for newsletters, websites, and community audiences, and help manage inventory, supply coordination, and vendor communications. Work 5-15 hours per week, split between telework and onsite at the Hennepin Healthcare campus in downtown Minneapolis. Receive mentorship and professional development support consistent with other research team members.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of or lived experience of spinal cord injury
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, research participants, and other stakeholders including SCI community organizations
- Skilled in problem solving
- Skilled in keeping detailed records and files
- Skilled in basic computer and smartphone applications
- Ability to adapt and be flexible
- Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail
