Job Summary
Conduct experiments involving neonatal and adult rodents and pregnant sheep models to study hypoxia's impact on brain development. Perform animal surgery in a sterile suite, assist with tissue sectioning, staining, and western blotting, and analyze data using electrophysiology, MRI, and microscopy techniques. Design studies, maintain records, and present research findings at weekly lab meetings under the supervision of postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences
- Associate's degree in Life Sciences
- 3 years of relevant experience
- 4 years of relevant experience
- Equivalent combination of training and experience
- Comfortable handling rodents (neonatal and adult)
- Familiarity with basic Molecular Biology techniques (PCR, RT-PCR)
- Familiarity with basic Microscopy
- Computer knowledge/skills
- Good communication skills
- Excellent recordkeeping
- Ability to work independently while functioning within a team environment
- Prior small or large animal handling experience
Desired Qualifications
- Coursework taken pertaining to Neurobiology/Neuroscience or Physiology
- Confocal/fluorescence microscopy
- Cell culture techniques
- Handling fixed/frozen tissue sections for immunohistochemistry
- Mouse genetics
- Protein assays
- Experience in advanced molecular biology, biochemistry techniques
- Enthusiasm about their work
- High motivation to succeed in a multi-disciplinary/multi-collaborator setting
