Job Summary
Own the Lab Operations by taking the lead on day-to-day lab activities, maintaining a clean, organized, and inspection-ready environment, and managing inventory and kit preparation across multiple studies. Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and processing including centrifuging, aliquoting, and labeling, while conducting point-of-care testing and assisting with patient visits such as vital signs and ECGs. Drive accuracy and compliance by handling specimen shipping per IATA guidelines, maintaining detailed logs, recording data in electronic systems, and ensuring adherence to GCP, OSHA, HIPAA, and study protocols. Work closely with coordinators and investigators to support study visits and ensure efficient patient interactions. This full-time role in Brownsville, TX reports to the Site Director and includes health insurance, 401(k) match, and PTO.
Required Qualifications
- Certified phlebotomist within the state of Texas
- Highly proficient in venipuncture with the ability to independently perform draws and effectively navigate challenging sticks
- Experience working with diverse patient populations
- Familiarity with medical terminology and basic laboratory procedures
- Comfort working with lab equipment, documentation, and regulated processes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilities at once
- Proficiency with basic computer systems (Excel, Outlook, EMRs, or similar tools)
- Comfortable using multiple electronic data entry systems
- A team-first mindset with a willingness to jump in wherever needed
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment
- Excellent interpersonal skillsâyou'll be interacting with participants, providers, and sponsors
- Passion for improving patient outcomes through research
- Location: Onsite in Brownsville, TX (no capabilities for remote or hybrid work)
