Job Summary
Research Assistant in Propulsion at the University of Sheffield leads the design, planning and organization of propulsion-test activities, supports development and commissioning of new test equipment, conducts risk assessments for safe testing, and collaborates with a growing research team. Responsibilities include supporting propulsion test activity, coordinating research tasks, contributing to reports, conference abstracts and journal articles, aiding undergraduate projects that utilize test facilities, and maintaining strong working relationships within the research group and with external collaborators. The role requires a Masters-level qualification in aerospace engineering or related discipline, a passion for propulsion, experience with quantitative experimental research, and strong IT and communication skills. The position is full-time with hybrid working arrangements and a one-year duration, Grade 6, salary £32,080–£36,636 (GBP) per year. Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
- Technical knowledge related to rocketry and propulsion testing
- Experience conducting risk assessments and planning safe test activity
