Job Summary
Collaborate with the Principal Investigator on research projects focusing on tourism and Chinese nationalism. Analyze online source material using Little Red Book for data collection and process large text corpora with machine learning, sentiment analysis, and LLM tools. Code major themes from collected data either manually or through automated systems while performing literature reviews on big data analysis innovations. Co-author papers with potential for joint publication. This fixed-term role offers a six-month to one-year appointment with extension possibilities, with salary commensurate with qualifications. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in social science, digital humanities, communications, or a quantitative field
- Strong research background, as evidenced in written papers, conference presentations or formal publications
- Qualitative and quantitative analytical capability
- Effective communication skills
- Good command of written English and Chinese
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of or interest in learning about Sociology of emotions and/or sentiment analysis
- Analysis of objects and digital images online
- Content analysis of social media, particularly Little Red Book (小红书)
- Tourism in China or Asia
- Nationalism and political emotions
