Job Summary
Contribute to the BLOSSOM project by selecting, preparing, and depositing advanced materials and hybrid 2D materials onto photonic integrated chips (PICs). Characterize electro-optical properties of these materials and integrated devices, while participating in PIC design, simulation, and nanofabrication with the engineering team. Integrate materials onto test PICs using patterning or micro-deposition techniques and perform data analysis using Python or Matlab. Participate in consortium meetings, conferences, and the development of project reports and publications. Full-time role with a 36-month contract, salary of 25K–28K, located in Braga, Portugal.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Physics, Physics Engineering, Photonics or related fields
- Experience in FDTD simulations
- Experience in optical and/or optoelectronic characterisation of materials and/or devices (transmission, absorbance or fluorescence properties analysis)
- Experience in working with liquid samples (colloidal solutions, refractive index solutions, 2D materials or similar)
- Experience performing data analysis using Python/Matlab or similar
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in literature research
- Experience in nanofabrication – design or fabrication (e.g., lithography processes, etching processes)
- Experience in morphological characterisation (opt. microscopy, Profilometry, SEM, AFM or similar)
- Experience working with optical spectroscopy (steady state or time resolved)
- Experience working with sample handling (dilution series, self-assembly, 2D materials preparation or transfer)
- "Hands-on" approach together with a high commitment in respecting working deadlines
