Job Summary

Run experiments, assays, and record results while reading protocols that may include animal handling and tissue culture. Compile and communicate findings to supervisors, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols regarding combustibles, radioactivity, and toxic materials. Prepare reagents, maintain sterile conditions, and operate equipment such as centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and autoclaves. Manage laboratory inventories, clean equipment, and perform calculations involving molarity and serial dilutions. Lead correspondence with collaborators, track NIH grant deliverables, and organize research data including IRB documents and clinical entries. Create REDCAP databases, develop clinical photography protocols, and collaborate with biostatisticians on data analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Less than 1 year work experience
  • Excellent organization and record-keeping skills
  • Interest in clinical impact
  • Attention to detail
  • At least basic computing skills
  • Concise written communications
  • Ability to run experiments, assays, and record results
  • Ability to read and follow experimental protocols
  • Ability to perform calculations involving molarity, % solutions, and serial dilutions
  • Ability to prepare and operate equipment in experimental procedures
  • Ability to maintain and repair equipment according to manufacturer and university guidelines
  • Ability to ensure Laboratory is prepared for experiments
  • Ability to maintain sterile conditions as required
  • Ability to prepare reagents

  • Ability to keep track of progress on NIH grant deliverables
  • Ability to keep research data organized

  • Ability to self-initiate investigations of medical center resources to support research
  • Ability to develop image privacy and information security protocols with respective offices in the medical center
  • Ability to manage projects and supervise research assistants
  • Ability to prepare scientific publications
  • Ability to check work quality before delivery
  • Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of conditions that affect safety
  • Ability to report unsafe conditions to the appropriate person or department
