Job Summary

Research and Development Engineer for a plastics manufacturing environment responsible for supporting new product development, prototyping, testing, and continuous improvement in an onsite lab. Key duties include literature research, design and modification of components with 3D CAD, development and execution of laboratory and mechanical testing procedures, analysis of testing data and material characteristics, drafting technical reports and documentation, maintaining lab notebooks, assembling and validating prototypes, calibrating testing equipment, coordinating with Quality and Manufacturing teams on process improvements, ensuring compliance with standards, and providing technical support. Travel to facilities and customer locations is occasional.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 3+ years of Research and Development (R&D) Engineering experience within industrial product manufacturing environments
  • Experience supporting mechanical systems, product development, product testing, or manufacturing engineering initiatives
  • Experience using mechanical and material analytical testing equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related measurement tools
  • Experience with laboratory testing, product validation, and technical documentation
  • 3D CAD modeling experience using NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel approximately 15-20% to manufacturing facilities and customer locations

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred
  • 3+ years of R&D Engineering experience preferred in industrial product manufacturing environments
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling in NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar software
  • Experience with laboratory testing, product validation, and technical documentation preferred
  • Willingness to travel ~15-20% to facilities and customer locations preferred
