Research and Business Analytics Director

Job Summary
Lead cross-functional teams to deliver research and analytics projects, including research and discovery, program evaluation (especially training programs), and data analysis and reporting. Provide direct support to executive-level clients by exploring disparate data sets to create data-driven narratives that prove impact. Design and develop evidence-based strategies and plans for complex data projects and present them to internal and client audiences. Contribute to the department’s capacity-building and growth efforts, including writing language for proposals to win new work and identifying emerging industry trends. Oversee a team of junior analysts and technical developers to translate business requirements into client-ready solutions (dashboards, apps, automations). Use Excel to analyze and report on a wide range of quantitative and qualitative data, including creating graphs, writing key takeaways, and translating findings into recommendations. Identify and address opportunities to increase project team efficiency and impact through technology solutions, especially artificial intelligence (AI). Manage budgets and ensure compliance with project requirements; reduce risks and capitalize on opportunities. Uphold industry standards for data quality, reporting integrity, and project management. Participate in department staffing, strategy, and prioritization decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or a research-oriented social science.
- At least eight years of experience, including in account management, consulting, or similar customer service roles.
- At least two years of experience managing teams and reviewing others’ work for accuracy and strength.
- Experience with research methodologies, especially survey design and focus groups.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including nested formulas, pivot tables, and dual-axis graphs.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and Word, especially formatting graphs and tables.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Public Trust determination.
- Exceptional writing and speaking skills.
- Critical thinking skills, with a mindset for both the big picture and the small details.
- Ability to prioritize and complete work with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and a reputation for being detail-oriented.
