Job Summary
Lead a team of Research Assistants in the IMF's Macro-Risk Unit within SPRRU. Design, build, and maintain systems to ingest and transform external and in-house data series; import, process, and transform datasets using statistical/econometric techniques; analyze relationships in databases and identify key data series; apply text analysis and NLP to retrieve information from documents; develop innovative data visualization tools to communicate nonlinear model results; participate in the design and estimation of risk assessment models to track global and country-specific risks; prepare PowerPoint presentations compiling the unit's work. Requires university degree in economics/finance/statistics/computer science or related field, proficiency with Excel Word PowerPoint, and strong programming in Python, R, Stata, and MATLAB; knowledge of macroeconomics and data visualization with PowerBI; ability to lead a team of RAs through complex, multi-stage processes; based in the Washington DC metro area. This is a 3-year term appointment with the IMF, and applicants should include a Statement of Interest.
Required Qualifications
- Educational development typically acquired by completion of a university degree in economics, finance, statistics, computer science, or a related field
- Proficiency in Excel and strong Word and PowerPoint skills
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, Stata, and MATLAB
- Knowledge of macroeconomic theory and concepts; experience in macroeconomic/financial crises a plus
- Experience leading a team of RAs or coordinating multi-stage processes
