Job Summary
Execute daily sales floor operations including product pricing, merchandising, displays, inventory rotation, and handling returns while operating the point of sale system to process transactions and reconcile registers. Cultivate relationships with donors, volunteers, and guests by communicating store policies, answering program questions, and resolving escalations. Sort, process, and prepare donated items for resale, evaluate their usefulness for repair or recycling, and safely transport goods throughout the store. Support managers with continuous improvement projects and function as an assistant manager when needed. Perform duties at various Community Action House locations, including evening and weekend shifts on a rotating schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Prior retail or customer service experience
- Prior customer service training or leadership experience
- Prior experience working in nonprofits or a general understanding
- Proficient with general retail and office technology, including POS systems, printers, and copiers
- Proficient in G Suite, including Google Docs, Sheets, Calendar, and Email
- Ability to lead volunteers and assign tasks
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently
- Capable of anticipating and meeting the needs of donors, volunteers, and guests
- Experience navigating guest concerns and de-escalating when necessary
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
- Demonstrated proficiency in money handling and record keeping
- Willingness and interest in continuous learning and adaptation based on your professional interests and organizational needs
- A high standard of performance and integrity, and the ability to lead by example to foster a positive workplace culture
- Proficiency in clear and effective written and verbal communication, and ability to develop trusting professional relationships
- Ability to independently travel between work locations within a reasonable timeframe for each of our Community Action House locations
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- High School Diploma
- Access to consistent and reliable transportation to travel between each of our Community Action House locations during work
- Evening hours regularly, on a rotating schedule
- Weekend hours regularly, on a rotating schedule
Desired Qualifications
- Resale experience or knowledge
- Some supervisory experience
- Some college
- Bilingual Spanish proficiency
