Job Summary
Accept donations, sort and price goods, merchandise items on the sales floor, and operate the point of sale system to process transactions. Greet guests, answer questions about store services, and communicate policies while handling cash accurately. Evaluate donated items for resale, repair, or recycling based on established guidelines, and safely transport items throughout the store, including stairs. Collaborate with team members to achieve store objectives, maintain cleanliness in public spaces, and escalate guest complaints as needed. Perform duties at various Community Action House locations in Holland, MI, including evening and weekend hours on a rotating schedule.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Access to consistent and reliable transportation to each of our Community Action House locations
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 30 pounds
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Evening hours regularly, on a rotating schedule
- Weekend hours regularly, on a rotating schedule
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in retail or customer service
- Technology skills proficient to operate retail and office technology such as POS systems, printers, and copiers
- Familiarity with GSuite applications, including Google Docs, Sheets, Calendar, and Email
- Ability to anticipate and fulfill customer needs
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
- Ability to count and handle money
- Willingness and interest in continuous learning and adaptation based on your professional interests and organizational needs
- A high standard of performance and integrity, and the ability to lead by example to foster a positive workplace culture
- Proficiency in clear and effective written and verbal communication, and ability to develop trusting professional relationships
